AI + 3D Vision Enhances Precision in Steering Joint Positioning and Picking

Time:2024-11-29

To enhance market competitiveness, a leading component manufacturer decided to implement a strategic upgrade by introducing Transfer Technology's AI + 3D vision technology. This transformative step aims to shift the production of rotary joints from automation to intelligent manufacturing, boosting both efficiency and quality while advancing modern manufacturing processes.

01 Workflow

This project leverages Transfer Technology's Epic Eye S-M industrial 3D camera to guide the robot arm in placing rotary joints into material bins, enabling unmanned operation.

  • On the automated production line, workers initially place neatly stacked material frames in the designated vision recognition area. Each station contains ten layers of bins, with four per layer, ensuring the orderly material arrangement.

  •  Upon receiving the capture command, the 3D camera swiftly captures images of each bin with precision. The XYZ-axis module moves the camera to capture from different angles, ensuring comprehensive coverage.

  •  For lower bins, the Z-axis module adjusts the camera’s position downward, keeping all bins within the field of view. The system calculates the exact coordinates for 8 rotary joints in a single row and transmits the data to the robot arm for accurate picking.

  • Cycle Time Within 3 Seconds

    Ensures Efficient Operations

With a cycle time of under 3 seconds, the system can rapidly identify and position rotary joints, accelerating production speed and enhancing overall production efficiency.

  • Strong Adaptability

    Resilient in Challenging Environments

The 3D vision system excels in resisting ambient light interference and can operate stably in a variety of industrial conditions. Whether facing dust, vibration, humidity, or high temperatures, the system ensures continuous and stable production processes.
