To support mixed-line production of aluminum motor housings and wooden dividers, the solution features an innovative dual-station robotic setup with "eyes on hand" design:

  • Hardware Configuration: The robot arm is equipped with Transfer Technology's Epic Eye Pixel Mini 3D camera, accurately capturing the poses of conical pin holes and large-size dividers.

  • Closed-Loop Workflow: Pallet positioning > dynamic imaging > real-time AI algorithms computation > robotic picking of housings > divider recovery and stacking. The entire process is fully automated, without manual intervention.

02  Technical Challenges


  • Sub-Millimeter Precision Fit

    The housing fixtures must insert conical pins with diameter of 10 mm into pin holes with a tolerance of just 0.2–0.5 mm, requiring extremely stable and accurate visual localization.

  • Robust Recognition of Large Thin Panels

    Wooden dividers are prone to deformation. The system must calculate the poses of two diagonal corners within a 5 mm accuracy.

  • Dual-Station Synchronization

    A single camera must serve one robot for two workstations (motor housing and divider tasks), while resisting vibrations and environmental noise on the production floor.
