Overcoming Reflective Interference: Transfer Technology’s AI + 3D Vision Redefines Automated Loading for Aluminum Profiles

時間:2025-08-22

The demand for automated loading in aluminum profile processing is rising rapidly. Yet, reflective metal surfaces and the limited operating space of robot arms have long been the main obstacles. Partnering with Transfer Technology, a leading aluminum profile manufacturer has successfully deployed an AI + 3D vision solution, unlocking a new level of smart manufacturing.

01 Technical Solution

Transfer Technology selected the Epic Eye Pixel Mini industrial 3D camera as the core device. Its compact size of only 130 × 59 × 73 mm allows it to be mounted directly on the robot arm without modifying existing material bin structures.

To address the reflective properties of aluminum, the Pixel Mini camera delivers VDI/VDE measurement accuracy of 0.1 mm @ 0.5 m—ranking among the best in its class. It generates highly accurate, complete, and high-resolution point cloud data for a wide range of workpieces, even under challenging conditions such as loosely stacked items, fine textures, or reflective surfaces.

In operation, the Pixel Mini captures images in as little as 0.2 seconds, leading the market in acquisition speed. In this project, visual imaging and detection were completed in 2.5 seconds. The high-speed capture enables real-time monitoring of both the environment and materials changes, providing immediate feedback for operational adjustments. This ensures accuracy, maintains smooth workflow, and accelerates takt time—further boosting overall productivity.

02 Customer Value

The system is now in stable production at the client’s facility, exceeding expectations. Actual performance reached ±1 mm detection accuracy and ±2 mm picking accuracy. The client’s technical director highlighted:“The point cloud stability under strong lighting conditions is far beyond similar products, making the system truly ‘plug-and-play’.”

The successful deployment showcases Transfer Technology’s core belief: “Measurable parameters, verifiable value.” As industrial automation moves into more complex territory, only by transforming technological advantages into tangible customer value can smart manufacturing achieve sustainable progress.
