How can these challenges be addressed? The key lies in enabling robots to truly see and pick accurately. And the critical “eye” is provided by Transfer Technology’s high-precision 3D industrial cameras.
Project Challenges
In this automated tote loading project for a leading domestic new energy vehicle manufacturer, the vision system was required to meet the following challenges:
High-Precision Positioning
Tote positions on pallets are not fixed, while robotic handling demands extremely high repeatability. The project required the vision system to achieve a positioning accuracy of ±2 mm, and ultimately enabled stable robotic picking accuracy of ±5 mm, ensuring every pick and placement is consistently precise.
Compatibility with Complex Scenarios
The production line processes totes of varying sizes and materials. Tote edges are often partially occluded by products, and reflective surfaces may be present. The vision system must deliver strong resistance to environmental interference and adaptive recognition across multiple tote types.
Efficient and Stable Operation
With high-intensity production takt times, the vision system must complete recognition, positioning, and guidance within a very short cycle while maintaining stable 7×24 operation to ensure uninterrupted production.
Technical Highlights
To address these challenges, Transfer Technology delivered a customized vision-guided solution centered on the Epic Eye Log L 3D Industrial Camera:
“See Clearly”Resistant to reflections from metal and plastic surfaces. Even when tote edges are partially occluded, the system reliably outputs high-precision 3D coordinates through robust point cloud feature matching.
“Recognize Accurately”Powered by Transfer Technology’s self-developed vision recognition and positioning algorithms, the system rapidly completes feature extraction and pose estimation across multiple tote sizes. With a recognition rate of up to 99.99%, it fully supports high-frequency industrial operation.
“Easy to Use”No external industrial PC is required. Algorithms and software are embedded directly within the camera. With simple power and network connections, basic commissioning can be completed quickly, significantly reducing system integration complexity and long-term maintenance costs.

Customer Value
With the deployment of Transfer Technology’s 3D vision guidance system, the factory’s small-part inbound process underwent a fundamental transformation:
Higher Efficiency and AccuracyThe vision system enabled fully automated operations. Picking accuracy improved significantly, effectively eliminating mis-picks and missed picks.
Enhanced Safety and Optimized CostsHuman–machine interaction risks were completely removed. Workers were freed from repetitive, high-intensity labor, achieving both labor cost optimization and intrinsically safer operations.
A Benchmark for Smart ManufacturingThe project established a highly flexible intelligent inbound logistics model, demonstrating the powerful enabling role of 3D vision in complex logistics scenarios and laying a solid foundation for future factory-wide automation upgrades.
The wave of intelligent automotive manufacturing is accelerating, and unmanned, intelligent logistics has become an irreversible trend. With deep expertise in 3D vision technology and extensive project experience, Transfer Technology has already helped numerous leading manufacturers achieve workforce replacement at key processes and advance toward smarter production.
Looking ahead, we will continue to focus on high-precision, high-stability, and easy-to-deploy 3D vision products and solutions, serving automotive manufacturing, smart logistics, new energy, and beyond. With reliable “intelligent eyes,” we empower more enterprises to capture efficiency and win in the next phase of digital and intelligent transformation.
